Research on Global Approaches to Land Value Capture

Submission Deadline: February 28, 2018 at 11:59 PM

By the mid-21st century, cities around the world will face the challenge of accommodating billions of new residents expected to migrate to urban centers. Consequently, major investments in infrastructure will be required, and funding for operations and services to citizens is expected to grow in magnitude. Land value capture enables communities to recover increases in land value generated by public interventions, with revenues that may be used to finance public services and infrastructure.

Learning how individual jurisdictions in the developed and developing world are using land value capture successfully is a key step in promoting the expanded use of land value capture globally. Of equal importance is understanding the intersection of national, regional, and sub-national policies globally that are enabling land value capture frameworks that produce sustainable urban outcomes.

The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy invites proposals for original research papers and case studies that examine the implementation of land value capture instruments to address urban development challenges in a range of contexts across the globe. Policy-oriented empirical studies and international comparative works are encouraged.

Research deliverables are expected to result in working papers or case studies. Working papers and case studies must adhere to the Lincoln Institute's format and templates, appropriate for publication by the Lincoln Institute. Guidelines for working papers and case studies will be provided to researchers who are selected for an RFP award.
