Land Management in Large-Scale Urban Projects

This course presents a general approach to Large-Scale Urban Projects, based on the definition of such projects and an exploration of why project analysis is important. The course (1) considers the role of Large-Scale Urban Projects in the development of Latin American cities and (2) analyzes a variety of project types and the diverse entities that have been developed for project implementation.

Special emphasis is given to the analysis of local and international cases and of instruments related to the planning and financing of major projects. These cases include Urban Operations (such as CEPACs in Brazil), Partial Plans (distribution of costs and benefits), and public-private partnerships.

Prerequisite(s): understanding of concepts of land price formation and its relationship to urban planning.
