Nike Opejin

Adenike, who goes by Nike, is a one-year research fellow at the Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy. Her current work focuses on the future of agriculture in the Colorado River Basin. Nike was born and raised in Nigeria before moving to the United States for her graduate studies. She has a PhD in Sustainability from Arizona State University (ASU), where she worked for five years as a research associate on an NSF-funded Food-Energy-Water Nexus Modeling project and taught urban planning and sustainability classes. She is an AICP-certified planner, and has worked as a professional planner in housing and environmental departments in Nigeria and in zoning and planned development approval planning areas in the United States. She is passionate about coproduction of knowledge to make cities equitable, manage resources sustainably, and become more resilient and adaptive to climate change uncertainties.
