China Program International Fellowship 2023–24

The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy’s Program on the People’s Republic of China cordially invites proposals for academic and policy research papers addressing land, urban, fiscal, and environmental issues related to urbanization in China. Preference will be given to policy-oriented empirical studies and international comparative studies. The areas of focus are:

• Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the future of cities
• Spatial planning and climate change 
• Land use, carbon neutrality, and spatial governance 
• Urban regeneration 
• Municipal finance and land value capture
• Land policies
• Housing policies
• Urban environment and health
• Land and water conservation

Eligibility and Qualifications

Only scholars based outside of mainland China are eligible to apply. Visit the website of the Peking University–Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy (Beijing) to learn about a separate fellowship for scholars based in mainland China.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. degree at the time of submission. Proposals must be submitted online via the web-based application form. Proposals sent by email or mail will be rejected.

Timeline

Submission of proposals is due on November 27th, 2022, by 11:59pm (EST). Proposals received after the deadline will not be accepted. Awards will be announced by the Lincoln Institute in mid-February 2023.

Award Amount

Three to four winning proposals are expected to be selected. The amount of award will be around $35,000 USD for each winning proposal. The funds awarded under this RFP are contracted as work-for-hire and are not permitted to be sub-contracted by recipients to third parties.
