Ryan Maye Handy, AICP candidate, is a policy analyst and planner focusing on scenario planning. Her work focuses on training communities in the practice of scenario planning and using that practice to prepare, and plan for, uncertain futures. She helps run the Consortium for Scenario Planning, whose mission is to develop scenario planning and apply it in communities of all sizes through research, peer-to-peer learning, training, and technical assistance.

Prior to joining the Lincoln Institute, she worked as an urban planning consultant for a development firm in Jackson, Wyoming. Planning is her second career after spending a decade as a newspaper reporter covering the environment, state politics, renewable energy, and oil and gas regulation, among other things. She has a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature and Russian language from Georgetown University, a Master of Science in journalism from Columbia University and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado–Denver.
