Gareth A. Jones

Gareth A Jones is Senior Lecturer in Development Geography at The London School of Economics where he is Director of MSc Urbanisation and Development, and an Associate Fellow of the Institute for the Study of the Americas, University of London. In 2004, Gareth was Leverhulme Visiting Fellow at The University of Texas-Austin, and in 2005 was Visiting Professor at the Universidad IberoAmericana, Mexico City. He has been a consultant to the Department for International Development (UK), the National Department of Housing (South Africa), and UNCHS. Gareth’s research focuses on the cultural politics of urban space in the Mexican city, access to land, housing and micro- finance for low-income groups in the development South, and recently issues surrounding youth, street children and violence in Latin America.
